Hi Stamper!
Happy New Year!  Back at it, with a brand new year to start off right.

The brand new Stampin' Up! Spring-Summer Idea Book & Catalogue is in transit & will be in effect as of January 19th.  The retired accessories list is out - check www.yamstamps.com for the posting and the updates on availability.  Unlike the stamps, retired accessories are only available while supplies last, so if you see something you "need" be sure to move quickly!!  Placing your own online order directly is the fastest way - go to my business site, www.yamstamps.stampinup.net and click on "shop now".  (of course, if you prefer more of a personal touch, you can always call or email me with your order!).

If one of your resolutions was to be more organized this year (one of my perpetual resolutions, it seems) you will love the January class I have on board - a card organizer, complete with a Forget-Me-Not Keeper box.  We'll decorate a box and start with a collection of cards to build up your stash so you'll always have a card ready for that upcoming occasion, and have a spot to store all your finished creations!  See class listing below for details.

Another common resolution is the "earn more money/decrease debt" scenario.  If this is on your list, why not consider your own Stampin' Up! business?  There's never been a better time!  Come to my information evening to find out what being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator involves.  (Hey, if _I_ can do it, you can too!!! lol).  RSVP for the Info Evening - Mon Jan 19th.  Can't make it that night?  Let me know & we'll get together for coffee at another time!!

A new Stamper/Scrapper club session starts next month - if you are interested in joining, please contact me ASAP as spaces are limited.

I wish you a happy, healthy and creative new year, and look forward to seeing you soon!!

Scrapbooking Food For Thought

10 Lessons For Scrapbookers
From Creating Keepsakes Article by Ali Edwards - April 2008

A fellow demonstrator recently reminded me of this article, and I've paraphrased the main points and added in my two cents worth....  I love lists...  so the list of ideas:

1. There is no "right" way to scrapbook

2. Print your photos....something we never used to have to think about when shooting on film!!!

3. Don't buy everything in sight  (OK I must admit this one pains me a bit..lol) but I do agree that the important aspects of scrapbooking are the photos and the stories/words.  (although, really, shopping is part of the fun, isn't it??!!)

4. Schedule time to create - and on this note, I am looking to schedule stamp & scrap open nights in the near future - vote now if you have a particular evening or day that you prefer!!!!

5. Don't think you have to scrapbook in chronological order!  Sometimes it's easiest to do what's most recent.  Or....as I learned from Stacy Julian and her Library of Memories concept (a huge online course in itself) - you don't even have to scrapbook about events - scrapbook stories instead...

6. Use your handwriting....because it's part of who you are...and in the future, your handwriting will evoke memories in and of itself, more than a computer printed font will....  (but of course, there's room for BOTH).

7. Don't forget the date - even if you just put the month & year....

8: Become a translator - adapt a page theme or elements from other layouts or layout ideas for your own tastes & preferences.

9. Learn by doing (and you'll also remember better...)

10. Get yourself on your pages - self explanatory, right?  As the photographer or scrapbooker, we're (too) often behind the scenes...

I am looking forward to another fun year of stamping & scrapping with you!

Linda
