Scissor Q & A
scissorsStampin' Up! offers three different kinds of scissors to cover all your cutting needs!  Why so many?  Here are a few scissors tips to help you out...

1. Get the right size scissors for the task at hand. The longer the blade, the straighter and faster you can cut. Stampin' Up! Craft and Paper Scissors #108360 have a 3-3/4" blade length which makes cutting large areas a breeze. The handle on the Craft and Paper Scissors are ergonomic, which means they are safe, efficient and comfortable preventing hand fatigue.

2. Detail cuts are harder to do with longer bladed scissors. Stampin' Up! Paper Snips #103579 are perfect for snipping little bits of paper and card-stock. Their thin, small and 2-1/2" pointed blades can accurately cut the tiniest of areas.

3. To cut your rubber stamps, wire, chip-board sheets and twine you need a sharp and short bladed scissors. Stampin' Up! Craft and Rubber Scissors #103179 blades are 1-3/4" and are great for cutting close on your rubber stamps. After cutting your rubber stamps you might find adhesive stuck on the scissors blades. If this happens you can use a baby wipe or an alcohol swap to clean the blades. Make sure you let the blades air dry before putting them away.

Treat yourself to a great pair of scissors or two because the right tool makes the job so much easier!

Card Sample - You're A Blast
blast offI am always looking for ideas for good "boy" or masculine cards.   The "You're a blast" stamped image comes from an eight piece stamp set called Pun Fun, which is pictured on page 76 in the Idea Book and Catalogue.

Supplies used to make this card:
#101722 Not Quite Navy 8 ½" x 11" cardstock
#119685 Cherry Cobble 8 ½" x 11" cardstock
#105125 Certainly Celery 8 ½" x 11" cardstock
#119683 Daffodil Delight 8 ½" x 11" cardstock
#100730 Whisper White 8 ½" x 11" cardstock
#119861 1 ¼" Circle Punch
#119868 1" Circle Punch
#119873 ¾" Circle Punch
#119855 1 ¾" x 7/8" Large Oval Punch
#119863 1 3/8" x 5/8" Large Oval Punch
#119867 Ticket Corner Punch
#115054 Pun Fun Stamp Set
#101179 Basic Black Stamp pad
Markers - #119677 Daffodil Delight, #105106 Certainly Celery, #119681 Cherry Cobbler

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Stamp The You're a Blast image on a 2 inch square of Whisper White cardstock. Before layering on a 2 ¼" square of Cherry Cobble cardstock trim all corners of both layers with the Ticket Corner Punch. Colour the Rocket Ship with the Markers.

2) Use the photo of the card as a guide to punch out the circles. To make the ring on the planet first punch Daffodil yellow with the smallest Oval Punch. With the larger Oval Punch upside down so you can see where to punch center punched out area in the opening of the punch.

3) Fold a 5 ½" x 8 ¼" Not Quite Navy cardstock in half then adhere the prepared pieces with Snail Adhesive.

Did You Know...
Have you ever created a wonderful card or scrapbook page and not have any ribbon to match?  Believe it or not...I do not own every color or type of ribbon that Stampin' Up! offers, but I always try to have Whisper White ribbon on hand so.... here are a couple ways that I use to match my ribbon to my creation!

1.Re-inker dyeing - Create a water and re-inker solution in a container and soak a length of ribbon in it.  Empty Stampin' Up! button containers work well for smaller lengths.
2.Use a sponge dauber - ink up your sponge dauber using Classic Ink pad and glide it over the ribbon transferring the ink.  Be sure to work on Stampin' Up! grid paper or other scratch paper.
3.Color direct to ribbon - open your classic ink pad and pull your ribbon over the ink pad; use a sponge on the top of ribbon to press the ribbon into the ink pad and keep your fingers clean(er).
4.Stamping - you can use a small stamp and stamp directly to the ribbon or a larger more detailed stamp to stamp random designs onto the ribbon.

Remember to let your ribbon dry before using it on your card or page...ask me how I know this....LOL
I look forward to seeing you soon.  In the meantime - happy crafting!
