Tomorrow is the start of the Twelve Weeks of Christmas mailings - exclusively for my mailing list subscribers! Don't miss out - sign up NOW!! The 24 hour countdown is on...
I have to admit, there are some cards that I like more than others, and this is one of them. I particularly like this one because while it looks involved, it's really quite easy! (That's my specialty I think....cards that aren't too hard to make, but look difficult!!)
Anyway - this card uses the Island Floral Bigz die for the Big Shot for the focal floral accessory. By sponging the edges of the cardstock, I think it adds an extra depth. The gold glimmer brad holds the die cuts together (there's a hole in the centre of them) and adds a bit of bling. Love the Lace Ribbon Border punch - one of my new favourites, I think! Plus tone on tone stamping of En Francais makes the background a little more interesting.
I think you will also LOVE the Christmas card that I came up with using this die as well!! Thanks to the sharp eyes of a club member, Jo-Ann, I was able to visualize this floral die being used in a whole new way. If you want to see what became of that observation, be sure to be signed up for my newsletter! Newsletter subscribers will be receiving my Twelve Weeks of Christmas as a special "thank you" for being part of my email list - each week brings a new card, wrap or gift idea to make your holiday season a little more crafty! (and yes, it truly is 12 weeks before Christmas....)
This is from week 11 of my 12 weeks of Christmas emails this year - I thought I'd share it here if you still have some packaging needs for tomorrow!!
I know I can't be the only one that hangs on to the "nice" bags that I sometimes get from stores. This is a heavy duty paper bag with cord handles. I simply covered up the logo with this 3D tree I made, and also covered up the inside logos with a thin strip of designer series paper (hard to see in the picture). The tree is made from 4 squares of the Ski Slope Designer Series Paper, topped with 3 stars punched from metallic gold cardstock. I replaced the cord with the felt ribbon from the Alpine Ribbon Originals.
HOW TO:
1) Cut 4 squares from your designer series paper - 3"x3", 2.5"x2.5", 2"x2", 1.5"x1.5"
2) Each is folded the same way, and then adhered together to form the tree shape; I used a the flip side of the designer series paper for the trunk.
Step by step shots below for the basic fold...the first steps are basically scoring the paper.
start with your square fold in half, then unfold again
fold in half the other way, unfold fold diagonally, unfold, then fold on
the other diagonal & unfold
fold in half with crease at top poke in the side along crease lines
* if you are using patterned paper, (bring the top fold down so it's vertical)
to make design symmetrical, have the
design run horizontally*
previous step finished repeat on other side
bring the front right fold to the repeat with the other side - DONE!
This was my most recent 12 weeks of Christmas sample - but I couldn't resist sharing it here.
Many people choose the holidays as a time to send out family photos - here's a way to combine a photo with a handmade card (they're not mutually exclusive!). I used the Big Shot Top Note Bigz die to cut the Ski Slope Designer Series Paper. I saved the middle portion to use on other projects (alternatively, you could use it on the inside portion of the card!). I used the leftover piece as a frame, and highlighted it with the words Peace and Joy from the Join the Cheer Big Shot Die. My paper snips came in handy to separate out the words I wanted. (the words on the die are Peace, Joy, Love, Cheer).
This design is not exclusively for the holidays - it could be used to send a photo greeting at any time of year! Change out the designer series paper, or use cardstock and stamps, snip out different words from the strip - imagine the possibilities!
There's still time to be included in the Twelve Weeks of Christmas - sign up for my email newsletter to see what week six holds!
